JAMESTOWN, Calif. – In compliance with all state, city, and county guidelines related to outdoor museums, the exterior grounds and on-site store at Railtown 1897  State Historic Park (SHP) have reopened for visitors to experience and enjoy. Perfect for leisurely self-guided tours, bring-your-own-picnics on the sprawling Roundhouse lawn, and shopping for unique rail-related items and memorabilia (perfect for Father’s Day gift ideas), the grounds and store are now open daily from 9:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. In addition to enhanced and rigorous cleaning procedures, various social distancing measures are in place throughout the Park to promote health and safety.  The Park’s interior exhibits and historic shops remain temporarily closed and weekend excursion train rides have not yet resumed operations.

And,  for those interested in showing support for Railtown 1897 SHP during the temporary closure, Park membership offers many valued benefits that last a full year-long (and begin once the Park has fully reopened).  Plus, membership programs provide much-needed support for the continued restoration and preservation of historic rail equipment, exciting and new upcoming exhibits, and the enrichment of important educational school group programs.

Park admission is $5 for adults, $3 for youths (ages 6-17), and free children 5 and under (as well as for members). For more details and complete information about membership to the California State Railroad  Museum Foundation, please visit www.railtown1897.org/get-involved/membership/.
