Railtown 1897 State Historic Park's Season Opening Weekend Event

Railtown 1897 State Historic Park celebrates the start of its 2025 operating season on April 5-6 with the return of the Mother Lode Cannonball and the chance to see rare and historic machinery in operation at the historic Jamestown shops. Excursion trains depart at 10:30AM, noon, 1:30PM, and 3:00PM for scenic 45-minute journeys through Gold Country. Displays include Sierra Railroad's Coach #6, Caboose #7, Shay Locomotive #2, Locomotive #28, and the Legendary Sierra #3 Movie Star Locomotive. Demonstration activities include motorcar and turntable operations, and machinery demonstrations in the Roundhouse.
